The superstructure of the existing railway bridge in Tulln was replaced in order to satisfy the current requirements of the railway traffic (in particular regarding loads, speed, service life and noise protection). The new superstructure consists of a steel framework with a reinforced concrete composite deck and ballast-less track for economic reasons.
Due to the structures nearby a ballast-less track according to the system “Edilon” is used where low noise emission is reached due to the kind of rail bearing in form of a continuously bedded rail.
In the transition areas on both abutments expansion joints with highly elastic support points corresponding to Ioarg 336/Hilti are planned.
