In the course of the redesign of the forecourt of the Praterstern in Vienna’s second district a flying roof consisting of a steel structure with glass roofing above the area of the tram and bus stations as well as a steel pergola for the enclosure of the forecourt were erected.

The dimensions of the flying roof amount to approx. 100 m (length) x approx. 38 m (width) and it is situated at a height of approx. 10 m. The structure consists of a space framework with a system height of 1.20, which rests on a total of 21 round pipe supports. The supports are fixed in foundations and branch out into four inclined trusses each.

The enclosure of the forecourt consists of a steel structure which primarily fulfils the task of partitioning and design.
