Luegbrücke

The existing Lueg Bridge, a slope-based bridge with a total length of approx. 1,805 m, is completely demolished and replaced with a modern new structure. Unlike the existing structure two separate structures will be realized in future – one for each lane. The new structure is built in reinforced concrete composite construction with spans of approx. 36 m, which ensures a long-lasting and load-bearing structure which is easy to maintain.

The southern section of the bridge represents a special technical challenge. Here movements from the landslide Padauner Berg as well as demanding geological and topographical conditions (location on a slope) must be considered. Furthermore, factors like traffic routeing during construction and in the final state as well as the vicinity to Brenner main road and to the railway track are integral parts of design and checking.

FCP makes an important contribution to safety, sustainability and efficiency of this central traffic infrastructure in the Alpine region with its successful check engineering. The new construction of Lueg Bridge represents a significant step for safeguarding the Brenner Motorway as most important north-south connection in Europe in the long run.
