OMMO – Permanent Monitoring Systems
Noise and Vibration Monitoring of Underground Railway
Long-term measurements of train passages are performed in Vienna’s underground railway network for automated determination of noise and vibration emissions in real time.
In mid-2016 three train sets were equipped with monoblock wheels and since then they have been used in Vienna’s underground railway network. In the course of the project the application of this new wheel type was examined for various track systems in relation to noise and vibration.
All in all nine measurement systems were established to study the long-term behaviour of monoblock wheels and to identify advantages and disadvantages compared to rubber-sprung wheelsets. The measurements are controlled via a trigger so that every train passage is recorded including an adequate period of time before and after the passage.
