Maintenance Hall for Double-Deck Multiple Unit Trains
FCP takes over building site coordination and site supervision for the new maintenance infrastructure of ÖBB-double-deck multiple unit trains “Cityjet Doppelstock Neu” at the former freight railway station Wien Floridsdorf.
In the scope of the project “S-Bahn Wien Upgrade” and the procurement project “Cityjet Doppelstock Neu” (“DOSTO Neu”) of ÖBB-Personenverkehr AG a new maintenance infrastructure for the new double-deck multiple unit trains is established at the former freight railway station Wien Floridsdorf. The project is running from January 2024 to December 2026.
The maintenance of more than 100 four-, five- and six-part double-deck multiple unit trains with vehicle lengths of 110 and 160 metres is planned. The trains shall be used predominantly on Vienna’s main line. The location in Floridsdorf enables short ways between field of application and maintenance infrastructure.
41,000 m² for halls, operational areas and track facilities
On the approx. 41,000 m² big construction site comprehensive infrastructure for the maintenance and repair of the new trains is established. The central maintenance hall comprises approx. 13,000 m²of built area. Additionally, an operational building with approx. 2,000 m² of built area and 4,000 m² of useful area as well as an unheated hall with storage area and approx. 1,400 m² of built area are created.
The track infrastructure is also in line with the requirements of the site. Approx.1,000 m of track facilities consisting of 7 entry lines, hall tracks and an unloading track are intended. They comprise 8 single turnouts and a double-slip turnout.
FCP is assigned with several services in the project. This includes building site coordination according to the health and safety engineering law, site supervision for construction, electrical engineering and HVAC as well as overall coordination.
A building permit according to § 31a railway law as well as an operating approval according to § 34b (railway law) are available. These approvals provide the legislative framework for the implementation of the project.
The new site offers infrastructure for the repair and maintenance of the new double-deck multiple unit trains. The combination of maintenance hall, operational and storage areas as well as comprehensive track infrastructure is the basis for the planned processes at the Floridsdorf site.
