Research and development form the basis of our planning activities. They assure that our projects are always implemented according to the state of the art – well-founded, verified and practice-oriented.
As an innovative engineering office we participate in national and international research projects. Cooperation with universities, research institutions and professional bodies enables a continuous exchange of knowledge. The findings are directly integrated into our projects and support the development of practical solutions.
Innovation happens where scientific knowledge and practical experience are consistently combined.
From research to application
Our research and development work is consistently oriented towards practical application. An example for that is the development of building management and inspection systems for structural maintenance planning of structures. Based on long-time experience in building inspection we develop data-based concepts for the prediction of condition developments and for optimisation of maintenance strategies.
In the field of structural dynamics and monitoring we have developed a structural inspection system called BRIMOS® based on vibration measurements. The system supports early damage detection and is applied worldwide. The continuous further development of measurement methods contributes to the improvement of safety and efficiency of structures.
Furthermore, we work in international research projects on:
- semi-active damping systems,
- innovative methods on damage detection,
- procedures on the analysis and reduction of cable vibrations,
- low-noise and vibration-reduced railway track systems, for example floating slab tracks.
Research for railway construction and technical standards
In railway engineering we work on the further development of technical solutions for modern infrastructure. This includes:
- ballast-less track systems,
- safety-optimized solutions for tunnel structures,
- innovative expansion joints between different track systems.
The results of our research and development work are integrated into the further expansion of technical standards thanks to our participation in national and international standardisation and guideline committees. Thus, we not only contribute to the implementation of existing rules but help actively shape their future.
Research & development as part of our engineering culture
Research and development are a strategic part of our engineering culture. They enable us to further develop new technologies, to transfer scientific findings into practice and find solutions for future requirements – responsible, scientifically founded and always considering practical feasibility.
