Complete Overhaul of Prater Hochstrasse
General refurbishment for Austria's most frequented road.
With approx. 230,000 vehicles per day the A 23 motorway in the area of Prater Hochstrasse between junction Prater and the junction Handelskai is the most frequented road in Austria. This load has left visible traces. In the course of a comprehensive restoration the whole upper asphalt structure in both directions as well as the corrosion protection of the Viennese steel guide wall on the bridge were renewed.

On behalf of ASFINAG we are responsible for the planning and the structural design including the design of the electrical and mechanical measures for the sector between km 10.596 and km 12.287 with our team of the CC Bridge Design & Structural Analysis.
In the field of the junction Handelskai 300 metres of the noise barrier were renewed to provide for more quality of life for the neighbours, and RSI (Road Safety Inspection) measures were implemented.
The works shall ensure that the heavily frequented route remains safe and fit for traffic in future and that the construction of the steel restraint system as well as the box girders below the bridge correspond to the current state of the art.
