New Cycle Path on Neubaugürtel Strengthens Sustainable Mobility in Vienna
KliNa Project of the Month 06/2025
In celebration of today’s World Bicycle Day, we have selected the new cycle path on Neubaugürtel as our KliNa Project of the Month for June 2025.
Commissioned by Vienna’s Municipal Department 28 (MA 28), the Competence Center for Transport Planning played a leading role in the traffic planning of this much-discussed and long-awaited cycling infrastructure project. With this initiative, the City of Vienna takes yet another significant step towards a climate-friendly and liveable urban environment.
The new cycle path along the heavily used Neubaugürtel is a prime example of how climate-positive urban development and practical mobility transition go hand in hand. It not only increases safety and comfort for cyclists but finally gives cycling the space it deserves in a modern city.
Location. Neubaugürtel, Vienna
Service. Traffic design
Client. MA 28 – City of Vienna

„ Sustainable mobility starts with well-designed infrastructure. Every metre of safe cycle path is a win – for the climate, for quality of life, and for everyone who chooses to travel on two wheels. “
