Stuttgart 21 Lot D
The project ballast-less track S21 Lot D comprises the approval design, the detailed structural and the as-built design of the ballast-less track and the underground cable works for a new high-speed route from the beginning of the new route Wendlingen - Ulm to the southern portal of Fildertunnel (Lot C) where the route passes into the new Stuttgart underground railway station.

The approx. 15 km long double-track section runs along the motorway A8 and is subterraneously connected to the Stuttgart airport where Gäubahn railway line will join later through Pfaffensteigtunnel.
The track system RHEDA 2000 is installed in the whole section, including 22 turnouts and 18 bridges. The railway station below the airport building is equipped with a floating track slab to protect the structures above against vibrations due to the operation of the railway.
