Renovation of the Augarten Bridge
The Augarten Bridge is a historical masterpiece that spans the Danube Canal in Vienna, connecting “Carl-Szokoll-Platz”/”Franz-Josefs-Kai” with “Obere Donaustraße”/”Untere Augartenstraße”. Built in the 1930s and rebuilt after its destruction in 1945, the bridge is the oldest remaining bridge over the Danube Canal and is now a protected monument.
The aging Augarten Bridge is currently undergoing renovation. The FCP team is involved as the general planner in the project phases of general design/tendering and detailed planning.

Project Scope
Structural Analysis & Bridge Construction: The Augarten Bridge consists of a load-bearing structure approximately 77 meters long, divided into a central span of about 55 meters and two side spans of 11 meters each. The structure includes seven main longitudinal beams and numerous crossbeams. As part of the project, the existing reinforced concrete slab will be completely replaced in three construction phases, and the corrosion protection of the steel structure will be thoroughly renewed.
Traffic Planning & Construction Coordination: During the three-month closure of tram line 31 in the summer months, the new reinforced concrete slab was already installed in the track area, and the entire track system was renewed.
Current Status: The first of three construction phases – the renewal of the track area – is nearing completion.
